A Romanian man who tried to sneak into Canada via Greenland and Grise Fiord was sentenced to seven and a half months in jail on Tuesday, reports CBC news.
Florin Fodor, 32, will be deported once his jail term is completed.
Fodor caught the public's attention when he landed in the tiny High Arctic community of Grise Fiord in September.
He made the 1,000-kilometre trip from Greenland to the southern tip of Ellesmere Island in a small motor boat.
He was arrested by the community's RCMP and charged with two counts of violating Canada's Immigration Act.
He pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this month.
