Iceland's minister of health Álfheidur Ingadóttir will submit a bill to parliament next week on an age limit of 18 for tanning beds on the advice of the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority, which proposed the ban in November.

The Public Health Institute of Iceland made a survey recently to see how people feel about the use of sunbeds and 72 per cent of respondents supported a legislation barring children from tanning beds.
If approved by parliament, the legislation will take effect on January 1, 2011. A similar legislation has already been implemented in a number of European countries.
