A new survey by Capacent Gallup indicates that 74 per cent of Icelandic voters will reject the Icesave legislation in the referendum on March 6, while 19 per cent will vote for the legislation and eight per cent plan to hand in a blank ballot.
British economist John Kay said in the Financial Times that British and Dutch authorities should try to reach an agreement with Iceland to avoid the referendum.
The referendum could have a significant international impact, Kay said.
