Two men, accused of corruption and fraud in connection with work at Statoil's liquid natural gas plant at Melkøya in northern Norway, are to appear in court this week, reports the Barents Observer.

Bribes allegedly given to Statoil's purchasing agent at the plant include a trip to Rio de Janeiro with a pricetag of 7,500 EUR, a football holiday to UK at 6,300 EUR and home improvements at 9,000 EUR. These were given to Statoil’s purchasing agent as bribes by a seller in the firm Løvold AS in Hammerfest, charges say.

The local business association for the Hammerfest area, Petro Arctic, told NRK that such bribes are very rare among local enterprises.
