More than 20 U.S. fighter jets will participate in joint training with Swedish aircraft over Swedish Lapland this summer, reports the Barents Observer.
The American jets and about 200 servicemen will be based in the F21 Air Force base outside LuleƄ in northern Sweden.
The joint training is intended help strengthen the capacities of the Swedish Air Force. As part of the training, bombs will be dropped at the Lomben shooting field in the area.
Last summer US forces were in northern Sweden for training.
As part of the Loyal Arrow drill, more than 50 foreign aircraft were on site.
Northern Sweden also served as training ground in this winter's Cold Response drill.
Both drills triggered strong protest from several Swedish public organizations, arguing that neutral Sweden should not do joint training with NATO forces.
